Tim Beckham has been a good friend and partner with MTEA for many years and involved with traffic safety education since 2012. He was an instructor at the Oregon Driver Education Center (ODEC) and worked his way up to the Vice President of the company until August of 2021. At ODEC he trained teens, adults, and instructors. He became a Trainer of Trainer with Western Oregon University in 2016, where he loves training adults to become instructors.

Tim now works at Highway Safety Services (HSS) as a Project Specialist. HSS manages the American Driver & Traffic Safety Education Association (ADTSEA) and has contracts with National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA) where they work on national driver education initiatives.  Tim will be presenting the closing keynote address on "The Future of Traffic Education".

Plan Ahead for the Spring Conference

The Traffic Education environment is constantly changing. The 2022 conference will focus on increasing student and teacher engagement, research-based outcome strategies, growth through academic risk-taking, roundtable discussions on "how I teach," sharing the roadway, SPED ideas, school size comparisons, BTW strategies, MT DRIVE Workshops, intersection/roadway design, curriculum modules, CDTP, the future of TE, and more!

Many of you know that our conference is a collaborative effort, made successful because of our many generous member volunteers. Here are some ways you can be involved and help support the 2022 spring conference:
  • Plan to attend! The costs of attending the conference are considered to be an allowable traffic education program expense for professional development under OPI guidelines. The fee is $215 and includes a one-year MTEA membership.
  • We need items for door prizes and the Silent Auction!  Start gathering or soliciting donations for door prizes and silent auction items now, so you’re ready to bring them to the conference in April.
Look for details and a registration form in the spring issue of MTEA News (March 2022) and plan to join us at the 2022 Spring Conference!
